Bruck welcomes the world elite for the 2nd time

Fürstenfeldbruck – The ICO German Open 2018 took place in Fürstenfeldbruck from 19.-21.10.18

The Wittelsbacher Halle hosted athletes from fourteen nations for three days to compete for the German Open title.
Following the success of last year’s German Open in Fürstenfeldbruck, Charly Knobling was encouraged to secure the biggest international crossminton tournament in Germany in 2018 again.

The sport which was played is called Crossminton and is the fast-paced sibling of tennis, squash and badminton. The Wittelsbacher and the Realschule gym were reserved exclusively for the still somewhat exotic- looking trend sport.

Charly Knobling is an executive of the World Crossminton Federation ICO and the chairman of the Fürsty Speeders. Besides all the work he had in his multiple positions, he decided to still compete on court. Charly did not want to miss to participate in his home town. The 57-year-old local managed to reach the quarter-finals in the O50 age group. There he was then eliminated by the tournament winner.

The ICO German Open Is an open ICO 1000 points tournament. This category is awarded worldwide only five times a year. That is why it is not surprising that 16 of the best twenty players an a total number of 130
players participated in eleven categories. The tournament even had players participating from Japan and Russia.
“Too bad the seven Indian players registered for the tournament did not get a visa,” Knobling said. “That would have spread even more diversity into the tournament!”
I really look forward to the German Open 2019 ” a player from Münster told us.
As the saying goes: After the tournament is before the next tournament, so Charly and Irene are already looking forward to the Swiss Open 2018, which takes place from 03.-04.11.18 in Buchs (SG), this time only as participants.
