KEBER AND HJALMARSON WIN AGAIN
Fourth crossminton European Championships was hosted by Polish capital Warsaw. Inspite of summer heat, spectators witnessed great matches, but also no major upsets in elite categories. Both current World Champions, Jasmina Keber from Slovenia and Per Hjalmarson from Sweden, add another European Champion title to their tallies. Keber won the final match against Jeniffer Greune (GER) in straight sets (16:10, 16:9): “Winning the European champion title again means a lot to me, especially due to difficult weather conditions. Considering this, I have to be satisfied with my level of play and my ability to adapt to these conditions”. In Open Division, an unexpected rival was waiting for his chance in the final against Per Hjalmarson. Mladen Stanković from Serbia played an excellent tournament and even came close to winning the first set in the final match, but Hjalmarson proved too strong in the end – 17:15 and 16:6 were enough for him to win another title.
In junior categories, Nika Bariakova (SVK) and Bence Palinkas (HUN) won in U18 categories, Christoph Gerber (HUN) and Rebeka Škerl (SVN) won the U14 categories and young Polish players Amelia Droszczak and Mateusz Drumlak won the U12 categories. U18 doubles were won by Slovak pairs Kristina Ščavnicka/Nika Bariakova and Adam Kakula/Patrik Turna.
In senior categories, Hans Granberg (SWE) won the O40 category, Vincent Krieger (FRA) O50 category and Beata Fenyvesi (HUN) the female O35 category.
