9.ICO Crossminton “Suncana staza” Zagreb Open powered by Speedminton

Lori Škerl and Jaša Jovan won the 9.ICO Crossminton “Suncana staza” Zagreb Open2019in Open Female and Open Male category.

Lori Škerl and Jaša Jovan, both youngsters from Slovenia, grabbed the titles of the Open Female and Open categories in the 9.ICO Crossminton “Suncana staza” Zagreb Open 2019 that took place yesterday in Zagreb, Croatia. Lori Škerl won in final against Danaja Knez (Slovenia) and Jaša Jovan won against Damir Baković (Croatia).

77 participants from 4 countries battled for medals in 12 categories. 9 players from CC Zagreb team managed to finish the tournament with 15 medals.

The Tournament was held in Tennis centre Prince.Players played on 5 tennis courts (clay), because of winter time, the courts were of course air-supported and heated. On 10 courts, 163 matches were played. In Open category world number 12 and Junior World champion, Jaša Jovan started strongly against Damir Baković in final and didn’t lose focus. In the end he didn’t give any chance to his opponent and won in straight two sets, 16:7 16:7. In Female category world number 2, Lori Škerl played final against her very known opponent, her double partner Danaja Knez. Friends on trainings, but rivals on the court. In very intense and always interesting match between this two, this time, Lori Škerl won in two sets 16:ž 16:ž. Jaša Jovan did confirm his good form and won in Open doubles category with his partner Nikola Kučina. In Mix Doubles we had honour to have crossminton star, Jasmina Keber, who won the title with her partner Matjaž Šušteršič. Marko Jerković from CC Zagreb (Croatia), did also great job in juniors categories and won two first places, one in U18 male category and other in U18 doubles, with his partner Borna Petak.

Tournament had great number of junior players, even 6 categories and 29 applications in total.

In Croatia, the sport has progressed continuously since 2010. By now, there are 50 players in constant tournament rivalry throughout the year.
